Data Technical Engineer - Advisory The Role KPMG Malta is looking for a Data Technical Engineer who will play a key role in shaping, building, and delivering modern data solutions across a variety of industries and technologies. As a Data Technical Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary digital advisory team focused on designing and delivering robust data platforms and architectures. You will work closely with clients to understand their business and technical needs, engineer data ingestion and integration pipelines, and contribute to the design of scalable and secure data environments in the cloud. Key Responsibilities As a Data Technical Engineer, you will: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, data models, and storage solutions to support efficient data ingestion, transformation, and accessibility Contribute to the architecture and implementation of cloud-based data platforms and end-to-end data solutions across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud environments Collaborate with solution architects, data analysts, and stakeholders to deliver data solutions aligned with business objectives and technical requirements Implement and promote best practices for data governance, security, compliance, and data quality Support client-facing engagements, translating technical concepts into business solutions while effectively managing multiple priorities and deliverables Required Qualifications and Skills Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar technical data role, with strong knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and technologies such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory Experience designing and managing ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion pipelines, data integration solutions, and data warehousing environments across structured and unstructured data sources Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, or Scala, with a solid understanding of data architecture, infrastructure, and system design principles Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performance optimization, DevOps, CI/CD practices, and scalable data engineering solutions Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, engage with stakeholders, and adapt to new technologies and ways of working Preferred Qualifications and Skills Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks to support reliable and well-managed data environments Exposure to machine learning, AI-driven data solutions, and modern data technologies Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes Relevant cloud certifications, such as Azure Data Engineer, AWS Data Analytics, or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and experience working within consulting or client-facing project environments About KPMG in Malta Multicultural with diversity at the core, employing over 650 employees offering a flexible workplace to our people – KPMG in Malta is a global people-focused audit, tax and advisory firm thriving on a high-performing and trust culture.
