Senior Software Engineer / Platform Engineering / Kubernetes

Software Engineer required by an international SaaS technology company in Oslo, with strong skills in Go (Golang) or Python backend software engineering, combined with Kubernetes migrations, Kubernetes manifests and platform engineering, to join its engineering team responsible for its market-leading secure core video calling platform. This is an excellent opportunity to work on software engineering, Kubernetes migration services, and cloud platform engineering in a highly scalable Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment, building and operating globally distributed services that support secure, business-critical video communications. You'll join a talented and experienced engineering team with a great software engineering culture, where technical excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are genuinely valued. 💻 What you'll be working on: ✅ Designing, developing and operating highly scalable cloud services on GCP ✅ Leading Kubernetes migrations, including creating and managing Kubernetes manifests using YAML, helping to define and deploy Kubernetes workloads. ✅ Developing backend microservices, primarily using Go (Golang) ✅ Writing efficient, secure and maintainable code, with a strong focus on performance, reliability and cloud cost optimisation ✅ Working with CI/CD, GitOps, automation and production observability ✅ Collaborating with experienced engineers across Norway and the UK, contributing to architecture and technical decisions 🔎 What we're looking for: • 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience using Go (Golang) or Python • Strong practical Kubernetes migration experience, including writing YAML manifests and migrating services into Kubernetes environments • Experience designing, building and operating scalable cloud services, ideally on GCP or AWS • Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, microservices and cloud architecture • A strong engineering mindset, with a habit of writing code that balances performance, security and cost efficiency • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to share knowledge, mentor colleagues and help raise engineering standards Go experience is beneficial but not essential, provided you have strong software engineering fundamentals and relevant cloud experience. 🌍 Why consider this opportunity?
