Site Reliability Engineer

Role: Site Reliability Engineer Location: Central Cardiff, South Wales Working pattern: Remote first Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (may flex for the right person) This is is a mid-level SRE position. You'll start on tickets, monitoring and infrastructure builds, then take on incident escalations and end-to-end projects as you learn the customer environments. The business provides managed cloud, observability and AI runtime services for technology companies, ranging from fast-moving start-ups to regulated fintech, healthtech and insurance platforms Key Responsibilities Managed Service Delivery & Observability You'll work through customer ticket backlogs and Datadog alerts, triaging and resolving incidents and making improvements as you spot them. You'll set up Datadog monitoring and APM (application performance monitoring) on live customer applications. Platform & Project Work You'll configure and troubleshoot EC2, RDS, ECS and EKS across several AWS customer environments, with some Azure and Bedrock work. You'll build new infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code, and deliver cost and performance optimisation for customers. Python is used throughout. Depending on the customer, the work may also involve GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or PowerShell. Internal Tooling You'll contribute to internal AI tools and runbooks that improve how the team runs cloud operations. Experience Required Experience in a SRE, Devops or Cloud Engineer role. Hands-on experience supporting production workloads on AWS, including EC2, RDS, IAM and VPC networking. An understanding of metrics, logs and traces, and experience setting up alerts and dashboards in any monitoring tool. Comfortable Linux troubleshooting. Scripting experience in Python, Bash or a similar language. Experience working on live production incidents, and communicating clearly with customers. Desirable Datadog, Terraform, Kubernetes or Azure experience. Experience at a managed service provider or in another multi-customer environment. An AWS certification. What's on Offer A salary of £45,000 to £50,000, with on-call paid on top on a structured rota (infrequent) Training, tooling, courses and industry events paid for by the company.
