Staff Software Development Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This role will focus on building and supporting high-scale backend services that power secure, reliable healthcare operations. You will design distributed systems and event-driven microservices that improve platform performance, data flow, and service resilience. The position also partners closely with Security and DevOps teams to strengthen automation, production readiness, and compliance in a regulated environment. Location: Remote Compensation: $106,605 – $284,280 annually Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java/JEE and Spring Boot Implement event-driven patterns using Apache Kafka Model and exchange data using JSON with robust validation Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including testing and artifact promotion Partner with Security and DevOps teams to integrate automated security controls Ensure compliance with HIPAA and platform security requirements Own production readiness for high-volume backend services Qualifications 7+ years of professional software development experience 5+ years developing backend applications with Java/JEE and Spring Boot Experience building RESTful microservices and distributed systems 3+ years deploying services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms Strong understanding of REST API design and JSON data modeling Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off Retirement savings options Wellness programs Resources for physical, emotional, and financial well-being Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
